Chemical Peel

Applies a controlled exfoliating solution to renew the skin's surface, performed by a registered doctor.

Even, refreshed complexion
01Who it's for
  • You'd like to address dullness or an uneven, rough skin texture
  • You're bothered by congestion, blackheads, or breakout-prone areas
  • You want to soften the look of uneven tone or surface pigmentation
  • You prefer a registered doctor to assess which peel depth is suitable for you

How the treatment works

A chemical peel uses a controlled exfoliating solution applied to the skin for a set period of time. The solution loosens the bonds between cells in the outer layer, encouraging that surface layer to shed and prompting renewal of the skin beneath. This process is designed to help address dullness, uneven texture, and surface congestion.

Peels are available in different strengths, and depth is what determines how the treatment behaves. Lighter, superficial peels work on the uppermost layer and typically produce only mild flaking, while medium-depth peels reach further and can cause more noticeable renewal over several days. Your doctor selects a depth appropriate to your skin type, concerns, and recent sun exposure, rather than applying a single fixed strength to everyone.

As the skin renews, it is common to experience light flaking or peeling in the days afterward. Freshly exposed skin is more sensitive to sunlight, so strict sun protection is an important part of aftercare and supports the result. Your doctor will explain what level of renewal to expect for the peel chosen.

This is a doctor-performed treatment at Sera Aesthetic Clinic, using BPOM-notified products. Suitability is assessed individually; some skin types, recent treatments, or medical histories may mean a particular peel is not recommended.

02What to expect

After cleansing, the solution is applied and you may feel mild tingling or warmth that settles quickly. Your skin can look flushed immediately afterward. Over the following days you may notice light flaking or peeling as the surface renews, which is part of the expected process.

03Your session, step by step
  1. 01

    Consultation & assessment

Your doctor reviews your goals, medical history, and recent skincare, and examines your skin type and concerns.

  2. 02

    Planning the peel

Together you agree on a suitable peel and strength, so the depth matches your skin and your travel timeline.

  3. 03

    Treatment

The skin is cleansed and the solution is applied for a set time, then neutralised or removed. Most sessions take around 30 minutes.

  4. 04

    Aftercare guidance

You'll receive instructions on flaking, gentle skincare, and strict sun protection, with WhatsApp support for any questions.

04Recovery & aftercare

Minimal to a few days. Redness usually settles within hours; light flaking or peeling may continue for 3–7 days depending on peel depth. Strict sun protection is essential during this period.

You'll get specific aftercare guidance before you leave, plus WhatsApp support if you have questions afterwards.

“We match peel strength to your skin and recent sun exposure, and renewal often appears as light flaking over the following days rather than dramatic peeling.”

05Frequently asked questions
Will my skin peel a lot after the treatment?
It varies with peel depth and your skin. Lighter peels may cause little visible flaking, while medium peels can produce more noticeable shedding over several days. Your doctor selects a strength suited to you and explains what to expect at consultation.
How soon before a trip or event should I book?
Because light flaking can continue for a few days, it's sensible to allow lead time before an event. Your doctor can recommend a peel and timing that fit your schedule so any renewal has settled beforehand.
Does a chemical peel hurt?
Most people feel mild tingling, warmth, or a stinging sensation during application, which usually eases quickly. Sensation depends on the peel strength and your skin. Tell your doctor if discomfort feels strong so the application can be managed.
Why is sun protection so important afterward?
Freshly renewed skin is more sensitive to sunlight, so strict sun protection helps support recovery and reduces the risk of uneven tone. Your doctor will advise on sunscreen and limiting sun exposure for the days following your peel.
